BIM and Interoperability... Estimating. Clash Detection. Collaboration

From PDF's to light tables and Excel spreadsheets, you've got tools and processes in place to support these parts of your business. But the construction industry is changing. The standard of care is moving from 2D into Building Information Modeling (BIM), 4D, 5D and even 6D analyses. Design-Build and IPD are becoming viable delivery methods. It's clear then, that the transition to BIM is as much a business decision as it is a technological one.

Jay Dougherty LEED AP, is an Associate Director for Navigant Consulting's Global Construction Practice. He holds a Masters of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. He is an instructor for the Associated General Contractors of America's BIM 101 curriculum.

Michael Scott AIA,is a Project Manager and an Associate Principal with Newman Architects. He received his education at Georgia Institute of Technology and University of Pennsylvania. He holds degrees in Architecture and Urban Design.

Our discussion will include an examination of BIM authoring tools like Revit, clash detection tools and code compliance tools such as Navisworks and Solibri, as well estimating tools for enhancing automated BIM takeoff like Autodesk QTO and Reed/RSMeans QTO.

Who should attend:

Architects and Engineers... See the way better collaboration can be achieved using BIM tools - how to avoid clashes during design

Construction Managers and Contractors... See how utilizing BIM can save money on projects in estimating, pre-fabrication and clash detection

Owners and Facility Managers... See how BIM can be utilized after the facility has been turned over to you

CI Members - $35
Nonmembers - $50
